When I hear about Germany, the first place that strikes in my mind is Black Forest, known for its landscape beauty, with its ancient woodlands and mountainous peaks. One of my favorite animation character is Rapunzel. To my surprise I heard that according to legend, the Grimm Brothers were inspired by the enigmatic impression of this place to write their iconic fairy tales Hansel and Gretel, Sleeping Beauty and Rapunzel.

There is a small history behind the evolution of cuckoo clock which was explained by the demonstrators in the museum and also by our tour guide.

The wonderful crafting of cuckoo clocks was known for its traditional style and design that stole the hearts of people all over the world. The wooden clocks are decorated with leaves and animals carved in it. All clocks are hand-painted which were simply fantastic. There are clocks with musical device, playing a tune for every half/ one hour and few clocks have a small trap door through which the cuckoo appears when the clock is striking. There were different types of innovative clocks like Handmade Beer Chalet Mechanical Cuckoo Clock where Beer drinker raises glass on cuckoo call, an interesting feature, Handmade Bell Chopper Chalet Mechanical Cuckoo Clock where Wood chopper, dancers & mill wheel starts to move during cuckoo call. Notification of time in the clocks were simply superb.

There is a big clock right in front of the clock museum which is shaped like a house, or chalet, with little windows with hand crafted flowers and leaves. At the top, just under the roof, the cuckoo waits behind two little doors. Just below it, dancers move along a balcony every hour. We arrived there on perfect time and we got that chance to enjoy that moment.

It was really a great opportunity to witness a demonstration of making authentic cuckoo clocks in their original form. We also had some time to spend there to enjoy the beauty of nature. The visit has made a special experience in page of my memories.

Will be back with new bunch of exciting experiences and memories 🙂

Until then Happy Blogging 🙂 🙂
